Seeing His Face

 A couple of years ago, I wrote a book, Seeing His Face. It's a woman born with faceblindness, which means she could see people but she couldn't recognize anyone, not even herself. You can imagine how that might give her challenges in school, in a career, in her relationships with others. Throughout the story, you learn how she's adapted and when a relationship comes into play, it brings a new host of insecurities she hasn't faced before. But because she's resilient, she gets her own happily ever after. 

Her problems on the surface could have been solved if only she could have seen people and recognized them. But then . . . there would be no story. No growth. The challenge in Chloe's life is learning to see with different eyes, to recognize someone by their voice or the way they walk. To surround herself with people who are patient, kind, and are easily recognizable to her. 

In a small way, this is what we are asked to do. We are asked to recognize God's hand in our lives. To find His voice and to Seek His Face. 

Humility

-Example

The Pharaoh had a really hard time with humility Ex 10:3..."How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? Let my people go that they may serve me."

And later on when the children of Israel struggle, he says if they'll confess their sins and if their uncircumsized hearts be humbled, then God will remember the covenant He hath made. 

Duet 8:2 "And thou shalt remember all the ways which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thous wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

Ways to gain humility

1- Humble themselves and pray 2 Chron 7:14

2- Seek His Face

3- Turn from their wicked ways (repent)

4- Fasting (Psalm 35:13) Self denial and prayer for others

Seek His Face

-Learn of Him

-Search for Him

-Be with Him (temple- Psalm 24: 3-6)

-Hold the priesthood - Without the priesthood, no man can see the face of God and live (D&C 84:22)

Psalm 24:6 This is the generation of them that seek His Face
